if you have comcast, they have a filter also, all you have to do is set it up.
If you are SERIOUS about blocking domains, or specific spammers, here is what we do for schools.
You get an old computer box, let’s say, an AMD k-6 300 Mhz system, with only a small 1.2 Gb hard drive, two Network Interface Cards, and just for now, to set it up, a CDrom, a keyboard, and a monitor.
Next, you download and burn to CD, and then boot that old box with IPCOP 1.4.10 or any newer iteration.
It will permit you to block Domains, or specific addresses, and, you can run spam-assassin which has it’s own blacklist of stuff that should go into the trash can.
Also, if you only run two or three systems off of a router hooked to the output NIC, it will run Dan’s Guardian web page filter, to block anything by keyword and the words on the pages.
With a faster processor, like an 800 Mhz one, we filter a school of 36 student computer systems that do research online!
When you are through setting up your preferences, you reboot, after having pulled the keyboard, monitor, CDrom.
It becomes a firewall/router that you administer remotely, over the network, from any computer!
Help is on theforums, on Yahoogroups, and, at the Linux Users Groups, worldwide!
