   No stand-alone email accounts (hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc) require that you have an internet connection at home. They do all require that you have an internet connection available to check your email, but you can do that from any internet connection in the world just by going to their website.
   There is no way to check your email (electronic mail) without an internet connection of some sort. That would be like trying to check your mailbox for your postal mail but never opening the door to the box.

   email is excatly what it says: “electronic mail”. Internet is a MUST when considering setting up a new email account. You do have a few options though:

   a) You can usually use the Internet free of charge at any local library. Check there first.

   b) Some businesses offer internet access for a small fee (kinko’s, fed ex, internet cafes).

   c) Many cell phone companies offer email and/or internet access to their customers. This is a very smart choice in your situation.

   One of these choices is sure to solve your dilemma. Hope this helps.
